• U.S. Treasury Secretary: All Iranian airlines will cease operations as of September 23 (Wednesday)! Any airport that refuels Iranian aircraft, provides them with landing services, or sells them tickets will risk losing access to the dollar-based financial system.
The Iranian president is scheduled to land at New York airport on Tuesday and deliver his address at the United Nations headquarters on Wednesday.
This means that the Iranian president could face difficulties obtaining fuel for his aircraft and departing New York, and would need special authorization from the U.S. Treasury Secretary.
Every time U.S. officials see a new sign of flexibility from Iranian officials, they impose new sanctions.
For example, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz began just one day after the first visit by a high-level Iranian delegation to Islamabad for negotiations.
Ensuring the security of delegations attending the United Nations meetings in New York is the responsibility of the U.S. authorities, not the United Nations.
So, can the security of the Iranian president reasonably be entrusted to a system that, only a few months ago, assassinated Iran’s Supreme Leader, and that is now prepared to take hostile measures to the extent of denying fuel to the president’s aircraft?
1️⃣Why, then, is there such a strong insistence under the current circumstances on traveling to New York?
2️⃣ And why not deliver the address via video link, as some other countries have done?
