Dozens of people took part today in a car convoy and a gathering at Al-Karama Square in As-Suwayda to mark the anniversary of the October 7 attack. Participants carried pictures of Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, along with slogans including: “We will not forget, we will not forgive.”
According to the organizers, the event was held in solidarity with civilian victims in Israel and sought to draw a connection between what happened on October 7 and the violence suffered by Druze communities in As-Suwayda in recent years.
The scene once again reflects the extent of the political shift toward Israel among part of the Druze community in As-Suwayda. However, this does not mean that the position represents all residents of the province or all Druze, as there are also local voices that reject this direction.
