Beijing Rejects washington’s “Economic War” on Iran

China has rejected Washington’s call to join efforts to economically isolate Iran, warning that military pressure and unilateral sanctions will not resolve the dispute.

Beijing’s foreign minister Lin Jian reiterated that sanctions imposed without a basis in international law or authorization from the UN Security Council are unacceptable.

China’s position: dialogue, diplomacy and political engagement — not coercion and economic warfare — are the path forward.

Washington wants broader international participation in its pressure campaign. Beijing is refusing to play along.
