According to the Financial Times, China has warned the US that it will retaliate if Washington proceeds with its aggressive campaign of illegal secondary sanctions against Chinese companies trading with Iran.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry made Beijing's position unmistakable, shutting down Washington's coercive tactics:
"China has made clear on many occasions its firm opposition to illicit unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law or the authorization of the UN Security Council.
Economic wars and maximum pressure are not the solution. On the contrary, they will only lead to escalation and risk spillover, which will disrupt the global economic and financial order and harm the legitimate interests of other countries."
Washington's reckless attempts to weaponize the global economy are backfiring. Instead of isolating sovereign nations, these economic power trips only expose the limits of American leverage and risk destabilizing international markets.
Beijing and Tehran will not be bullied by unilateral decrees—and any attempt to disrupt legitimate economic cooperation will be met with decisive pushback.
