Bloody Escalation and a Blood-Soaked Dawn: Israeli Occupation Forces Commit Massacre in Ansar and Bomb Nabatih al-Fawqa Neighborhoods

Saturday, August 15, 2026

Southern Lebanon — Saturday Dawn

The Israeli aggression against southern Lebanon has entered a new phase of escalation, with heavy airstrikes and intense explosive and phosphorus shelling targeting residential areas and the outskirts of towns in Nabatieh and the south.

Massacre in Ansar — Zararia

Israeli occupation aircraft carried out an airstrike on an inhabited house on the outskirts of Ansar, toward Zararia, completely destroying the building.

Initial toll:

7 civilian martyrs

🩸 3 wounded

High-explosive missiles destroyed the house, once again raising the same question: How long will civilians in southern Lebanon remain open targets for the Israeli war machine?

Phosphorus Shelling in Nabatih al-Fawqa

From approximately 3:00 a.m., the occupation intensified its airstrikes and shelling, using incendiary phosphorus munitions against the forests and elevated areas of Ali al-Taher, on the outskirts of Nabatih al-Fawqa.

Residential Neighborhoods and Civilian Facilities Under Fire

At the same time, Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes targeting:

The vicinity of the Teachers’ Training Institute

The vicinity of the Husseini Club

Residential areas in Nabatih al-Fawqa

The strikes resulted in the destruction of additional residential homes.

Large-scale displacement has also been reported from villages and towns across the Nabatieh area following the latest Israeli aggression.

This is not merely a “military message.”

When inhabited homes are targeted, civilians are killed, and high-explosive and phosphorus munitions are used in populated areas, claims of “striking military targets” cannot be allowed to serve as a smokescreen for ignoring what is happening on the ground.

And the most uncomfortable question remains in Beirut: Where is the state?

Where is the Lebanese military leadership?

Where are the security institutions?

And where is the Lebanese Army when Lebanese villages and towns are being bombed and civilians are being killed?

Since the Rome negotiations with Israel, we have yet to see from Lebanon’s military leadership a position or action commensurate with the responsibility of defending Lebanon against Israeli aggression.

The condemnation here should not be directed at the occupation alone.

It must also be directed at all military officials in Lebanon, foremost among them the leadership of the Lebanese Army, who have failed to demonstrate any meaningful capacity or willingness to defend Lebanese territory since the Rome negotiations.

How can a military institution be expected to protect sovereignty when that sovereignty is being violated in front of it, yet we see no response proportionate to the scale of the aggression?

Lebanon is being bombed. Civilians are being killed. And the Lebanese Army remains silent.

This silence is not a position.

It is a political and military failure for which those responsible must be held accountable.
