Yemeni sources, cited by Tasnim News Agency and energy-sector media outlets, reported an attack on an oil facility in the Jeddah area, as footage circulated showing a major fire inside an oil storage and processing facility.
According to the information available so far, reports more specifically point to the Petro Rabigh refining and petrochemical complex north of Jeddah, rather than any official confirmation that an “Aramco refinery in Jeddah” was targeted. Saudi Aramco holds a major stake in Petro Rabigh.
Circulating footage shows a large fire engulfing one of the tanks inside the complex. However, Saudi authorities and Aramco have not yet officially confirmed that the fire was caused by a Yemeni attack, and no official assessment has yet been released regarding the extent of the damage or its impact on refining and production operations.
The timing is highly significant.
The reported attack comes as Saudi Arabia is conducting a broad air and military campaign inside Yemen under Operation “Dawn of Yemen,” while Sanaa has warned airlines that Saudi airspace could become a theater of its military operations.
If confirmed, the targeting of an energy facility on the Red Sea coast would indicate that the confrontation is once again shifting toward Saudi oil infrastructure, one of the most sensitive issues for Riyadh and global energy markets.
The military message is clear: as Saudi strikes inside Yemen expand, Sanaa is seeking to demonstrate its ability to carry the conflict deep into Saudi territory and increase the economic cost of the war.
As of publication: Reports of a fire at the facility are circulating widely, but the cause of the blaze, the nature of the reported attack, and the extent of the damage have not yet been officially established.
