A potentially explosive development is emerging tonight from Iraq.

According to Western sources cited by Erem News and subsequently picked up by Israeli media, Washington has reportedly given Israel a “green light” to expand its freedom of military action around Iraq, potentially allowing Israeli strikes against Iran-aligned Iraqi factions.

The report claims that the United States has eased previous operational restrictions on Israeli air activity and is aware of Israeli plans targeting armed factions in Iraq. Israeli intelligence and military preparations for such operations are reportedly already underway.

Among the major factions specifically mentioned in reporting surrounding the issue are Kataib Hezbollah and Harakat al-Nujaba, both of which have rejected demands to surrender their strategic arsenals.

Why this is extremely serious

The timing is significant. The United States formally completed its troop withdrawal from Iraq on September 30, only days ago. An Israeli military campaign inside Iraqi territory immediately afterward would raise major questions about whether Washington is attempting to replace its direct military presence with greater Israeli freedom of action against factions belonging to the Iraqi Resistance.

Israeli reporting says one objective would be to disrupt the Iran–Iraq–Lebanon logistical corridor, which Israel believes is used to move missiles, drones, weapons and other support toward allied forces in the region.

But such strikes would also carry enormous escalation risks.

An Israeli attack on Iraqi territory could place Baghdad under intense domestic pressure to respond, provoke retaliation from Iraqi factions against Israeli or American interests across the region, and potentially open another active front in the wider confrontation with Iran.

Important: neither the U.S. government nor Israel has publicly confirmed that such authorization has been granted. For now, the “green light” remains a media report based on unnamed Western sources, not an officially announced U.S. policy. It has to mentioned that JFeed , an Israeli media outlet has confirmed it .

When confirmed, however, this would represent a major shift: Iraq would no longer merely be caught between Washington and Tehran politically — its territory could once again become an active battlefield in the regional war.
