Field data and reports emerging from inside Iran cast doubt on U.S. claims that the strikes carried out by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) targeted military sites belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Reports indicate that the strikes have instead focused on vital facilities and civilian and economic infrastructure, rather than exclusively military targets.
U.S. strikes reportedly hit Jiroft Airport in Kerman Province.
Other civilian and service-related sites along Iran’s southern coast were also reportedly targeted, including a fish-meal factory on Qeshm Island, a fishing marina and a port-management tower in Sirik.
In addition, reports indicate that the strategically important Asaluyeh area also came under attack.
The range of targets challenges Washington’s claims of conducting precise, limited strikes against military objectives and points to an expansion of the bombing campaign to include civilian service and economic facilities, with direct consequences for civilian life.
