Sistan and Baluchestan | October 17, 2026
Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province is witnessing continued security tensions following a series of armed attacks and ambushes targeting Iranian police officers and military personnel.
Reports circulating over the past 24 hours indicate renewed attacks in and around the Rask area, although the exact timing and details of these operations have not been independently verified.
What is happening on the ground?
▪️ Armed groups: The so-called People’s Fighters Front (PFF), an armed coalition formed in December 2025 that includes Jaish al-Adl, which Tehran designates as a terrorist organization, has emerged as a key actor. The coalition has claimed responsibility for several attacks against Iranian forces throughout October.
▪️ Iran’s response: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and security agencies are conducting operations to pursue the militants. Local reports suggest that raids have taken place and dozens of young Baluch men have been detained, although the numbers and circumstances of these arrests remain independently unverified.
▪️ Communications and internet access: Reports indicate disruptions to communication networks and warnings of possible internet outages. However, the extent of the latest disruptions, and whether they were deliberate, has not been established.
Al-Muraqib’s Assessment | Military and Geopolitical Analysis:
Armed attacks against Iranian security patrols and military positions represent a direct challenge to national security. Such operations cannot simply be portrayed as political protests.
Iran has the right to defend its national security, territorial integrity, and pursue those responsible for armed attacks.
As for the possibility of American or other foreign support for these groups, this is an issue that warrants serious investigation. History has repeatedly demonstrated the use of external interference and armed proxies to destabilize states, although any direct connection to the current attacks requires evidence.
The confrontation in Sistan and Baluchestan is not merely a security issue. Protecting Iran’s borders and preventing armed attacks must go hand in hand with safeguarding civilians and preventing local tensions from being exploited to undermine Iranian stability.
Washington Dictates Its Terms to Lebanon — Rubio Pressures Joseph Aoun to Confront Hezbollah and Establish Contact with Israel!
Beirut | October 17, 2026
Details of the phone call between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio have revealed the extent of Washington’s pressure on the Lebanese leadership.
According to Axios, Rubio demanded:
▪️ Accountability for those responsible for transporting and financing a shipment of explosives belonging to Hezbollah, while rejecting any possibility of returning the shipment to the group.
▪️ The establishment of direct military communication between the Lebanese and Israeli armies.
▪️ A review of Lebanon’s 1955 law boycotting Israel, which Rubio reportedly considers an obstacle to the peace process.
The Observer’s ssessment:
Washington is demanding that the Lebanese government escalate its confrontation with Hezbollah and open channels of communication with Israel, while Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon continue without any serious American guarantees that they will stop.
The irony is that Lebanon is being asked to make security and political concessions, while receiving no clear guarantees in return regarding Israeli withdrawal, reconstruction, or the return of displaced families.
What kind of sovereignty is this, when Washington dictates its terms to Beirut while meaningful pressure on Israel remains absent? And how foolish is the Lebanese government to fall into such an obvious trap, attempting to challenge the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon!
