Delusions of Economic Pressure and the Recycling of Outdated Tools

In a statement reflecting the West's continued reliance on conventional options, the US Treasury Secretary speaks of
"strangling Iran economically"
and cites inflation figures as evidence of the efficacy of sanction policies.
However, this argument overlooks the strategic structure and historical nature of the opposing side. Repeating financial blockade policies fails to account for the reality of Iran's crisis management, which relies on long-term endurance and strategic patience—akin to carpet weaving and chess—where moves are calculated with precision and outcomes are deferred until the full picture takes shape.
Relying on the same pressure tactics and expecting behavior modification through sanctions reflects a disconnect from current realities. Old tools have become obsolete (démodé) amid shifts in the balance of power and the emergence of alternative economic pathways.
