Unofficial results circulating for the US midterm elections—based on media projections and Associated Press estimates rather than final government certification—show Democrats making clear gains at the expense of Republicans in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
According to the partial figures in circulation, Democrats were leading in 47 Senate seats (+3 seats), compared with 38 for Republicans (-3).
In the House of Representatives, Democrats were leading in 147 seats (+10), compared with 92 for Republicans (-10).
The War Against Iran
The data indicated that 62% of voters believe the war against Iran was the wrong decision, while 74% said the issue was a “decisive” or “important” factor in their vote.
In terms of Muslim representation, seven Muslim representatives stood out among those headed to the next Congress:
André Carson, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Lateefah Simon, Aisha Wahab, Adam Hamawy, and Darializa Avila Chevalier.
There is also the possibility that Abdul El-Sayed will win a Senate seat, which would constitute a historic first if the final results are confirmed.
It should be noted that these results remain unofficial until the legal certification and vote-counting processes in the states are completed, which may take weeks after Election Day.
