Gideon Levy Warns: The West Bank Is Following in Gaza’s Footsteps… as the Israeli Occupation Continues Its Campaign to Uproot Palestinians!

Israeli journalist Gideon Levy, in remarks attributed to him, has warned that the occupied West Bank is heading down the same path as the Gaza Strip, but at a slower pace. He reportedly argued that the ultimate objective of Israeli policies is to eliminate the Palestinian presence.

Why is the process moving more slowly? According to the circulating remarks, the large Palestinian population and the presence of approximately 700,000 Israeli settlers in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, make it more difficult for Israel to replicate the scale of destruction inflicted on Gaza.

Settlement expansion and displacement: Settler attacks, land confiscations, home demolitions, and restrictions on Palestinian movement continue, threatening Palestinians’ ability to remain on their own land.

THE OBSERVER’S VIEW | The Occupation Is the Same, Even if Its Methods Differ

What Levy is warning about is not merely a theoretical possibility. Developments on the ground reveal an expansionist settlement policy that is steadily shrinking the space available for Palestinian life and forcing increasing numbers of Palestinians from their homes.

In Gaza, destruction has been carried out on a massive scale through war. In the West Bank, the process of uprooting Palestinians is advancing through settlement expansion, violence, land seizures, and gradual displacement.

Responsibility does not lie with the settlers alone. It also rests with the Israeli occupation authorities, which support the settlement project and protect its expansion.

Palestine is not a land without a people. The Palestinians’ rights to their land, freedom, and self-determination cannot be erased by force or the passage of time.
