Hormuz for Lebanon? Iran’s Most Dangerous Card Yet

Hormuz for Lebanon? Iran’s Most Dangerous Card Yet

Iranian official Ali Safari’s latest statement linked the future of Lebanon’s war front directly to the Strait of Hormuz — the route carrying nearly 20% of global oil and 30% of LNG exports. Tehran’s message is clear: if Hezbollah faces a major war, Gulf energy routes may become part of the battlefield.

But is this strategic deterrence… or geopolitical suicide?

Closing Hormuz would not only threaten US and Israeli interests — it could also destroy Iran’s own economy, trigger direct strikes on Iranian infrastructure, and drag Lebanon into a regional inferno.

From the Axis of Resistance perspective, this is long-overdue deterrence against decades of assassinations, sanctions, and military pressure. From a critical geopolitical lens, it is a high-risk escalation where one miscalculation could ignite the entire region.

The real questions:

Did Lebanon officially approve being tied to Hormuz?

Can Iran actually enforce a closure without catastrophic retaliation?

Would China tolerate disruption of its energy lifeline?

Is “Project AMAL” a real regional security plan — or strategic theater?

The Gulf is no longer separate from Lebanon. The fronts are merging.
