IDF Chief of Staff: We Will Expand Operations If Necessary

IDF Chief of Staff Major General Eyal Zamir stated from southern Lebanon:

"We are prepared for any change in the situation and ready for a wide range of scenarios."

He added:

"In Lebanon, we have taken control of areas and continue to clear them of infrastructure. These are the zones where Hezbollah was deployed, and from which it threatened and launched attacks against northern communities.

If necessary, we will expand the scope of our operations to include additional areas.

We operate according to a clear security concept: deploying in forward defense positions deep inside territory across all fronts from which a direct threat to our towns and citizens originates."

He concluded:

"The IDF is responsible for security, and we will not withdraw from the areas we have secured until long-term security is guaranteed."

In plain terms:

The Israeli military has decided to carve out a "security strip" inside Lebanese territory under the guise of protecting its borders, currently enjoying itself flattening buildings and infrastructure, threatening to crawl even further north if anyone dares disturb them, and insisting they won't be leaving these "uninvited hosts" until they've personally ensured everything that moves is completely neutralized.
