Iran’s Defense Ministry says the country is pressing ahead with 50 strategic dual-use projects, involving private-sector companies in aerospace, railway diesel engines, and heavy industrial manufacturing.

Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik says these projects will serve both civilian and military purposes, strengthening Iran’s domestic production capabilities.

The geopolitical significance?

Washington’s sanctions and military pressure are intended to weaken Iran’s strategic capabilities. Tehran, however, is presenting industrial expansion, domestic manufacturing, and military development as evidence of its ability to withstand that pressure.

Dual-use technology is particularly important: Investments in engines, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing can strengthen civilian industries while also supporting military production.

Iran’s message to Washington is clear: Economic pressure has not stopped its industrial ambitions.

The real test will be whether these 50 projects translate into sustained production and technological independence, rather than remaining government announcements.
