Iran has expanded its retaliatory campaign against the U.S. military presence in the region, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announcing a combined missile-and-drone operation against American forces at Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait.

According to the IRGC statement, the attack focused on the U.S. base command center and the quarters of its commander, triggering major fires across the installation. The IRGC says the base’s primary drone hangar and deployment ramp were destroyed, several U.S. personnel were killed, and a number of American UAVs were eliminated.

Tehran presents the operation as direct retaliation for recent U.S. attacks inside Iran, particularly the strike on a residential building in Sirik County, Hormozgan, where a wedding gathering was reportedly hit, killing civilians including a four-year-old child.

The message from Tehran is equally political and military:

Iran says its target is the American military presence — not Kuwait.

The IRGC has reiterated its demand for the complete withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region, while urging the Kuwaiti public to distinguish between American military deployments and Kuwait’s own national interests.

The Wider Battlefield

The Ali Al-Salem strike comes amid a broader Iranian campaign against U.S. positions extending across Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq, demonstrating Tehran’s ability to place Washington’s regional military infrastructure under simultaneous pressure.

At the same time, the reported casualty figures and the full extent of the damage at Ali Al-Salem have not yet been independently verified by U.S. Central Command or Kuwaiti authorities.
