Iranian journalist Fereshteh Sadeghi posted on her X account:
Iran’s leader Ali Khamenei officially rejects any direct talks with the U.S.. That’s in reaction to the scandalous statement by the Reformist Camp.
He calls those who complain “why don’t you talk with the U.S. directly and resolve matters” as “shallow”.
• Khamenei who doesn’t even mention the Reformists, just lashes out at them by saying, “this issue (hostility btw Iran and the U.S.) is irresolvable. The U.S. wants Iran to be its yes-man but Iranian nation won’t accept such an insult and stands to 🇺🇸’s expectations”.
• Iran’s leader though keeps the window of possible indirect talks with the U.S. open, and doesn’t reject them altogether.
But his statement, should silence (for some time) those who nag Iran must settle its accounts with the U.S. by engaging in direct diplomacy.
