Tehran

The Iranian presidency announced that President Masoud Pezeshkian has accepted the resignation of Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad and appointed Hamid Bovard, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, as acting Minister of Petroleum.

According to official statements, the resignation was submitted for personal reasons.

The appointment came just hours after the resignation was announced, while no further official details have been released regarding the circumstances surrounding it.

This brings the number of Iranian ministries currently without a formally appointed minister to three, alongside the Ministries of Defense and Intelligence.

These developments come amid the ongoing war between Iran and the United States, which has continued since February, as well as mounting economic pressure on Iran’s oil sector.
