The Public Relations Department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement saying that the enemy’s attacks reflect a state of desperation and inability, and will lead to an even tighter closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement said:
• Targeting civilian areas: In recent hours, the attacking U.S. military carried out what it described as indiscriminate attacks aimed at several locations along Iran’s southern coast, including multiple non-military sites.
• Closure of the Strait of Hormuz: These attacks will further tighten the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and strengthen the resolve of Iranian fighters to suppress and crush foreign forces intervening in the region.
• Iranian response: IRGC fighters have begun their response, which, according to the statement, will make the attackers regret their actions. As an initial step, Iran’s modern air-defense and aerospace system reportedly shot down the 50th MQ-9 drone belonging to the attacking U.S. military.
• Results to be announced: The Iranian public will later be informed of the results of the operations carried out by Iranian forces.
