Reuters reported that Lebanon and Israel have agreed on a shortlist of countries that could deploy forces to verify the disarmament of Hezbollah under a U.S.-brokered agreement, with the United States expected to select the final countries from the list. 🌍⚖️

According to the agency, the list was drawn up during meetings between Lebanese and Israeli officials at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, as part of talks aimed at linking the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon to the disarmament of Hezbollah, which continues to reject surrendering its arsenal.

Sources said Beirut had previously rejected a proposal to use private security companies, while discussions continue over the legal and operational framework for deploying such forces—either through a new UN Security Council resolution or through a memorandum of understanding coordinated with the Lebanese Army. 🇺🇳🇱🇧
