Nabatieh
The Israeli military announced the destruction of “Imad 4,” a major strategic Hezbollah facility in the Ali al-Taher heights of southern Lebanon. The site was reportedly used as a command-and-control center for Hezbollah’s Badr Unit in the area.
What is the “Imad 4” Facility?
According to Lebanese security sources, the operation targeted a massive underground military complex beneath Ali al-Taher, reportedly containing:
An extensive tunnel network
A command-and-control center for the Badr Unit
Drone and missile storage facilities
Weapons and ammunition depots
Personnel accommodation areas
The facility was reportedly named after the late Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyeh, who was assassinated in Damascus in 2008.
Scale of the Network & Explosions
According to the Israeli military, the area contained 8 tunnels extending more than 5.4 km in total, with more than 2 km of tunnels detonated.
Israel says it used 1,100 tons of explosives, triggering a 4.0-magnitude earthquake in southern Lebanon.
Weapons Discovered
The Israeli military said its forces found dozens of missiles, rockets and drones inside the tunnels, along with machine guns, anti-tank missiles and hundreds of mines and explosive devices. It also claimed that some of the weapons were Iranian-made.
The Israeli military spokesperson described the destruction as the result of a complex ground operation involving deception and maneuver warfare, claiming that the 36th Division seized the Beaufort mountain range after crossing the Litani River from an unexpected direction.
Netanyahu-Katz Joint Statement
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said the destruction of the facilities completed Israel’s “operational control” over the Ali al-Taher heights, both above and below ground.
They added that the Israeli military would remain in the security zone, continue destroying infrastructure and prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its presence in the area.
The military statement concluded:
“We will remain a buffer force between every source of threat and the residents of the State of Israel. This is our duty.”
