{“And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs, saying: Bring your people out of darkness into light, and remind them of the Days of Allah.”}
The first days of the month of Mehr (September 21–October 21) remind us of the “Days of Allah,” and of the great and enduring phenomenon represented by the heroic defense waged by the Iranian people over eight years during the first imposed war.
In those days, the warmth radiating from the sun of the Revolution shone across the land of Iran, spreading a sweet sense of national solidarity and loyalty to the school and path of revolutionary Islam, while the ice left behind by domination and old and modern colonialism melted under its influence.
▪️ At that time, some of the Iranian people recalled the events of more than twenty years earlier, the hostility of the colonial powers, and the developments connected to the nationalization of the oil industry and the American coup. Others had only heard reports of those events, while many had personally experienced the suffering brought upon our country by foreign domination over its affairs.
The days preceding that period were dark days, during which the ambassadors of arrogant powers dictated to the country’s monarch what he should and should not do, and he carried out what was demanded of him, willingly or unwillingly.
Then came the great revolution of the Iranian people under the leadership of Imam Khomeini — may his sacred soul be sanctified — and completely overturned that reality. Thus, through the Revolution, those dark days were transformed into bright days that witnessed the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
▪️ This was extremely difficult for the dominant powers that had coveted the wealth of this land and, over many years, committed various forms of wrongdoing against its people in order to seize it.
From that point onward, they devoted all their effort and determination to forcing the roaring river of the revolutionary people back into its previous course. The first imposed war was their most significant move during the first decade of the blessed life of the Islamic Republic.
From the heart of the flames of that war — ignited by the anti-people Baath Party under the illusion that it would be a war lasting only a few days and ending in a low-cost victory — the Islamic system rose like a phoenix, stronger and more resilient than before, with a louder voice and soaring higher than ever.
This became an enduring characteristic of the system during the later events orchestrated by the enemy.
▪️ Those days in which the enemy of this people imposed its agents upon them and subjected them to a modern form of colonialism were transformed, by the blessing of the Revolution and by raising the banner of Islam and jihad amid the imposed war, into days of glory.
Thirty-eight years after their conclusion, the details of those events and the truthful accounts of those who returned from them still present us with examples to follow — each of them a school in worship, courage, resistance, ethics and humanity — shining like stars at the summit of our country’s history.
Those were days when our country, at the beginning of the attacks by the followers of the system of domination, inherited empty hands from the era of the tyrannical regime and had to confront numerous threats and defend itself.
Yet, through the blessing of upholding the truth and divine assistance, those days gave way to a time when the aggressive dominant powers themselves — not merely their followers — began searching for refuge from the attacks of the mujahideen of Islam and extending their hands in appeal for the war to stop.
▪️ The days to which they want to return our country were filled with backwardness, humiliation, degradation, dependency and the poor standing of Iran in the Islamic world.
By contrast, our present days are filled with progress, dignity and independence, and with the highest levels of standing and prestige in the Islamic world — indeed, throughout the entire world.
Today, there are those who regard us as the fourth greatest power in the world. Of course, they say this based on worldly calculations. Divine calculations, however, regard a country that considers itself affiliated with the Pure Household — peace and blessings be upon them all — whose people are overwhelmingly attached to those great figures and who do not fear establishing the truth, as the foremost power in the world.
In those days, the two seas to the south of Iran were arenas in which enemy forces moved freely.
Today, however, because of the painful blows they received from the courageous mujahideen and the defenders of the Strait of Hormuz, they no longer advance beyond the Arabian Sea. Whenever they take the risk of doing so, they harm themselves.
Soon the day will come when the Arabian Sea will also be free of them.
▪️ There were days when the dominant powers, through psychological warfare and by creating an atmosphere of fear, managed to empty the streets of the capital and stage a coup against this people’s aspiration for independence, after which they plundered the wealth of this country for 25 years.
Today, however, seven months have passed during which our fellow citizens have adorned the squares and streets throughout the country with their responsible and enthusiastic presence, reassuring the hearts of the mujahideen of Islam and plunging the enemy into fear.
More than 30 million Iranians have also declared their readiness to sacrifice themselves. When they were asked to renew their declaration of readiness for the purposes of a form of organization, the required number — more than 500,000 people — was completed within the first one hundred minutes alone.
Now, throughout Islamic Iran, adorned by the presence of Iranians from its various ethnic groups, declarations of readiness are continuing in different forms — especially armed preparedness — creating a field that will bring them glory and bring disgrace upon their enemy.
▪️ There were days when the courage of the people of this land was known through its men. Today, however, we live in days when women are ahead of men in some arenas of courageous participation.
There were also days when the enemy constantly sought to weaken the social base of the system.
Today, however, the various segments of society, despite their obvious differences, insist on maintaining what they regard as their rightful positions, including preserving the Strait of Hormuz, which is full of goodness and blessing.
▪️ Much more could be said in comparing the days of the past with the days of the present and explaining those differences.
But in a single statement, I declare, as a servant of the dear people of Iran, that those past days to which our enemy wishes to return us have gone, and they will never return.
I must also recall, with deep pain and sorrow, that the presence of the great Khomeini and the esteemed martyr Khamenei — may God elevate their noble stations — whose leadership our country’s dignity today is indebted to, is greatly missed in these days.
Yet by the blessing of the precious treasure they left to their followers through their example and their illuminating and guiding words, the coming days, God willing, will be more glorious and greater than the present ones.
The phoenix that rose from the flames of the first imposed war has today, under the pressures of the enemy — especially the two most recent imposed wars — grown to such an extent that the shadow of its flight now stretches over the enemy’s territory as well.
▪️ It is truly fitting here, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the martyrdom of the heroic prince of the Arabs and the great symbol of the Resistance Front, the noble martyr Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah — may God sanctify his pure soul — that we remember him.
He was one who sincerely wished goodness for his people and his school of thought. His truthful and warm speeches, along with his courageous initiatives, strengthened the hearts of his people, and indeed the hearts of free people around the world.
He elevated the name of Lebanon — that small country which for years had been transformed into the backyard of certain powers — to a position of greatness.
Victory and triumph were his constant companions. Without doubt, throughout the entire history of Bilad al-Sham up to the present day — after the prophets and their successors — no man equal to him in greatness had risen from that ancient land.
Today, his glorious banner is preserved in the hands of Sheikh Naim — may God protect him — who courageously continues along his path at the forefront of the steadfast and Ashura-inspired ranks of Hezbollah.
▪️ These days of Lebanon, in the scale of history — and indeed even from today onward — are distinguished and glorious days for Lebanon and for all the mujahideen of the Resistance.
They are also days that bring humiliation and will ultimately bring disgrace upon those who place their hopes in the false promises of the dominant powers and those who harbor ill intentions toward them in confronting the Zionist enemy.
Unlike the martyred leader of the Resistance, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, Sayyid Hashem Safieddine, and the present mujahideen of the Resistance — who will continue to shine through time like radiant stars and serve as guides to those who are lost, searching for the path and trapped in confusion — those others will be buried and quickly forgotten from the very first pages turned by history.
Whenever they are remembered in the future, their memory will be associated with wrongdoing, poor judgment and perhaps even betrayal.
▪️ In conclusion, I hope, through the continuation of divine grace and the special supplication of our Master — may God hasten his noble reappearance, and may our souls be sacrificed for him — that the people of Iran and all supporters of the Resistance encounter nothing but victory, triumph and dignity, and that their enemies receive nothing but defeat and humiliation, by the grace and generosity of God.
