This period coincides with mounting political pressure ahead of Israel’s October 27 elections and the U.S. midterm elections scheduled for November 3.
🔽 Operational Early-Warning Indicators to Monitor in the Coming Days
▫️ Military and naval indicators:
The simultaneous presence of two or three U.S. aircraft carriers within the operational theater (Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea, or Red Sea); increased heavy reconnaissance flights; noticeable changes in military transport and aerial refueling operations; and shifts in troop deployments at regional military bases.
▫️ Diplomatic and media indicators:
A shift in the White House’s rhetoric from “dialogue” toward warnings of a “heavy price”; leaks revealing more technical details about the proposed three-day military campaign; and other indications.
▫️ Nuclear and intelligence indicators:
New reports of unusual activities at Isfahan, Natanz, Fordow, or previously unidentified underground facilities; technical statements from the International Atomic Energy Agency adopting a more alarming tone; and other developments.
▫️ Regional indicators:
The evacuation of nonessential personnel from American military bases; the issuance of aviation or maritime navigation warnings in the Persian Gulf; and related developments.
🔻 The Scale of Iran’s Response as a Factor Increasing the Risk
The likelihood of a military attack occurring before the end of October depends heavily on one central calculation:
Washington and Tel Aviv may believe that Iran’s response will be limited and will primarily come through the various factions of the Axis of Resistance.
However, if American and Israeli assessments indicate that Iran’s retaliation would be more direct and significantly larger — for example, heavy, direct missile strikes against American or Israeli military bases and assets, resulting in substantial casualties — then the scenario of a “third war” could rapidly transform from a three-day military operation into a much broader regional conflict.
Under those circumstances, Washington’s calculations regarding the political costs of launching an attack before the elections would change considerably.
