Operation "Imposing Sovereignty": PMF and Army Sweep Najaf Desert Following Reports of "Secret Base"

The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and the Iraqi Army have launched "Operation Imposing Sovereignty" in the deserts of Najaf and Karbala. The operation, spanning four primary axes, is a field maneuver widely seen as a response to reports regarding the existence of a secret base in the region.

🔹 Sajjad al-Asadi, Chief of Staff of PMF Operations in the Middle Euphrates, announced that forces began advancing from the "Al-Faj" checkpoint into the depths of the desert. The mission involves a security sweep covering 120 kilometers, with the participation of intelligence and explosive disposal units. He noted that the objective is to establish full control and secure the desert and border regions, stretching from the Cement Factory toward the Al-Nukhaib district and the Arar border crossing.

🔸 For his part, Major General Ali al-Hamdani, Commander of PMF Operations in the Middle Euphrates, confirmed that the operation is being conducted under the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the supervision of the Army Chief of Staff. The operation involves the Karbala, Anbar, and Middle Euphrates Operation Commands, alongside the PMF’s 2nd Brigade. Al-Hamdani explained that forces are carrying out search and clearing operations reaching a depth of 70 kilometers, following precise military plans to secure the strategic road connecting Karbala and Nukhaib.
