The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), through the 2nd Brigade and in coordination with the Directorate of General Media, conducted a field survey in the Shannana area within the Najaf desert. The mission aimed to inspect the site of the strike that targeted the martyr Awwad Hadi al-Zakrouti and his vehicle.
According to PMF media, the field team documented the evidence at the site and performed a comprehensive aerial and ground reconnaissance of the area to examine the details and aftermath of the incident.
This move follows a previous statement by the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, which denied the existence of any "illegal" foreign bases in desert areas, asserting "full control" over those territories.
By displaying the strike location and images of the damaged vehicle, the PMF aims to refute the Joint Operations' narrative, raising critical field-level questions regarding the nature of what transpired in that desert region.
