Qalibaf Reveals Details of the Negotiations He Led

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, speaking during a meeting with a group of cultural and intellectual figures, revealed striking details about the negotiations and battlefield confrontations he had been overseeing.

Qalibaf said that he personally suspended the negotiations during the latest attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs, warning that Iran would strike Israel and the region if the attacks continued. According to Qalibaf, this prompted the other side to lift the blockade that same night, rather than wait for the 30-day deadline stipulated in the understanding.

The Iranian parliament speaker also stated that Trump was forced to amend his post concerning the Strait of Hormuz under the threat of military action, describing this approach as

“negotiation in the sense of fighting.”

Highlighting his longstanding involvement in the Lebanese file dating back to 1985, Qalibaf said he maintained direct contact with frontline fighters.

He further claimed that Tehran succeeded in imposing its conditions within the 15 clauses of the understanding, with Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the Resistance Front included in the first article—after the US administration had demanded that they be abandoned.

According to Qalibaf, the process ultimately concluded with an American signature recognizing the legitimacy of the Resistance Front, in the Persian-language text.
