Reading into a Rise That Defies Traditional Paths

The combination of owning an influential and controversial media outlet, along with ownership of a bank that was subjected to regulatory measures by a sovereign authority, the absence of any conventional political trajectory, and then the direct ascent to the position of Prime Minister — this is not read merely as an individual success story, but rather understood as the outcome of shifting power balances.

He is a candidate who can gain consensus because he carries no political history that clashes with any side, while at the same time possessing clear instruments of influence: media, money, and relationships.

It is the equation of media + money + power… a highly sensitive formula in any state, let alone in Iraq.
