26 October 2026 | Voronezh, Russia – Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv and Kharkiv, Ukraine
Three significant developments since the previous report, including a large Ukrainian drone attack that disrupted Russian railway operations.
1. Ukrainian drone attack kills two in Russia’s Voronezh region
Russian authorities reported a major overnight attack on Voronezh.
• Casualties: Two killed and 17 injured, including a child.
• Industrial damage: Fires broke out at several industrial facilities.
• Railway disruption: Russian Railways reported that a passenger train travelling from Anapa to Moscow was damaged, injuring five passengers.
• Air defences: Russia claims to have intercepted 113 drones over the region.
• Transport: Railway services through Voronezh were suspended.
Military significance: The attack disrupted a major transport corridor and reportedly affected industrial infrastructure. However, the military importance of the damaged facilities remains unknown.
2. Russia launches another large-scale aerial attack on Ukraine
During the night of 25–26 October, Ukraine’s Air Force reported:
• 140 drones and four missiles launched by Russian forces.
• 112 drones and three missiles intercepted or electronically suppressed.
• 15 locations reportedly struck.
Ukrainian regional authorities reported four people injured in Zaporizhzhia and two in Chernihiv Oblast.
Russia’s Defence Ministry separately claimed attacks on electricity infrastructure in Kharkiv and Khmelnytskyi, along with port facilities in Chornomorsk and a cargo vessel approaching Odesa.
🛰️ 3. US ballistic-missile warnings reportedly restored
In an interview aired on October 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that American intelligence warnings about imminent Russian ballistic-missile attacks had been fully restored.
He linked the restoration to discussions with US envoy Steve Witkoff.
Zelenskyy also said Ukraine would consider suspending attacks on Russian oil refineries if Russia stopped striking Ukrainian energy infrastructure, or if Washington provided certain additional defensive capabilities.
Strategic significance: Reliable advance warning could substantially improve Ukraine’s ability to prepare its air defences for Russian ballistic-missile attacks.
Military Assessment
Both countries continue conducting extensive long-range strikes against infrastructure.
The Voronezh railway disruption is the clearest newly reported operational consequence. The restoration of American missile warnings, if fully implemented, could have broader defensive significance.
