South Lebanon Burns — WHO is Protecting Lebanon?

According to The Guardian, Lebanese firefighters, environmental groups and residents accuse the Israeli military of deliberately triggering multiple wildfires across southern Lebanon.

Khiam: An Israeli drone reportedly ignited a fire using flares. When firefighters moved in to contain it, an armed drone struck nearby, forcing them to retreat.

And here is the disturbing part:

Lebanese firefighting crews cannot simply move freely. Their operations must be coordinated through the Lebanese Army and a “deconfliction group” that includes the IDF itself.

Permission was reportedly granted to firefighters to operate in two locations — while they were forced to stand by as other fires continued to spread.

So what exactly is happening here?

What is the Lebanese government doing while negotiations and arrangements with Israel are taking place?

Why is Lebanon negotiating in ROME while its territory is being burned?

And an even harder question:

Where is Hezbollah?

How can Israeli forces allegedly ignite fires, threaten firefighters and devastate southern Lebanese land under the very eyes of the resistance movement that claims to defend it?

Is “deconfliction” becoming another name for allowing Israel to dictate what Lebanon can and cannot do on its own soil?

Lebanon cannot simultaneously claim sovereignty, negotiate under pressure, and accept a situation in which firefighters need Israeli-linked authorization to extinguish fires on Lebanese territory.

If the state cannot protect its territory — and the resistance cannot prevent these violations — then who exactly is protecting South Lebanon?
