South Lebanon: the Towns Israel Could Control under a Redeployment Plan

If the reported plan is approved, these are the towns and areas that Israel would reportedly control following the redeployment:

1. From Naqoura northward toward the western Tyre and Bint Jbeil sectors

• Naqoura, including its nature reserve, and Mount Labouneh

Aitaroun / Yarine

Al-Marwahin

• Al-Bustan, Al-Marwahin and Rashaya al-Fukhar, along with nearby villages such as Mais al-Jabal and Blida

• Aita al-Shaab — located directly adjacent to the border, with its elevated terrain providing direct observation

Ramiya

Beit Lif

Qawzah

• Rmeish, which directly abuts the border

2. Deeper inside the Bint Jbeil sector and surrounding area — approximately 2–4 km from the border

• Yaroun — directly adjacent to the border

• Ain Ebel — approximately 3–4 km from the border

• Bint Jbeil — approximately 2–4 km from the border, with its elevated areas reaching the separation zone

• Maroun al-Ras — immediately adjacent to the border and overlooking Palestinian territory

• Aitaroun — directly adjacent to the border

• Blida — immediately adjacent to the border

• Mahibib — very close to the border, only a few kilometres away

• Mais al-Jabal — directly adjacent to the border and considered a major contact point

3. Toward the Marjayoun sector and the Fatima Gate — Kfar Kila

• Houla — directly adjacent to the border and overlooking the Hula Valley

• Markaba — approximately 2–3 km from the border

• Adaisseh — directly on the border, facing the Israeli settlement of Misgav Am

• Kfar Kila — home to Fatima Gate, immediately adjacent to the border and separated from the Israeli settlement of Metula by only a few metres

⚠️ Strategic significance

The proposed footprint is not simply a collection of isolated border villages.

Taken together, the locations form a continuous or semi-continuous belt along Lebanon’s southern frontier, incorporating key high ground and observation points overlooking the western, central and eastern sectors.

Recent Lebanese reporting has similarly identified Naqoura, Aita al-Shaab, Ramiya, Bint Jbeil, Maroun al-Ras, Yaroun, Aitaroun, Blida, Mahibib, Mais al-Jabal, Houla, Markaba, Adaisseh and Kfar Kila among areas affected by the Israeli military presence or restrictions on civilian return.
