Southern Lebanon | Saturday, 31 October 2026

A geographically widespread Israeli escalation has been underway since midnight, involving airstrikes, artillery bombardment, and suicide drone attacks, alongside intensive aerial reconnaissance extending from Sidon and Zahrani to Nabatieh, Tyre, and the border villages.

Airstrikes:

• Two airstrikes on Kfar Tebnit.

• One airstrike on the outskirts of Baraachit.

• One airstrike on Adshit al-Qusayr.

Artillery and Tank Fire:

Israeli shelling targeted Kfar Tebnit, Majdal Zoun, Mansouri, Kounine, Wadi Zibqin, Mayfadoun, Zawtar al-Sharqiya, the outskirts of Shebaa and Qantara, and the area between Haddatha and Haris.

An Israeli Merkava tank also fired several shells toward the outskirts of Qantara, while Israeli forces launched illumination rounds and conducted machine-gun sweeps toward the outskirts of Ibl al-Saqi.

Mayfadoun — Repeated Attacks on Residential Buildings:

According to Al-Nour Radio’s correspondent, a fifth explosive-laden drone detonated on the rooftop of a house on the outskirts of Mayfadoun, toward Zawtar al-Sharqiya, following a series of attacks on buildings.

Notably, the correspondent reported that most of the strikes were concentrated on homes equipped with rooftop internet transmission antennas.

These reports are consistent with coverage by Al-Kataeb, which documented four drones exploding at four separate homes within less than 20 minutes.

The full extent of the damage and casualties remains unclear.

Military Assessment:

The combination of intensive aerial reconnaissance, artillery bombardment, and precision drone strikes suggests that Israel is continuing a deliberate campaign of military pressure across southern Lebanon, rather than conducting isolated border operations.

The targeting of buildings equipped with internet transmission equipment also raises the possibility of an attempt to disrupt local communications. However, there is insufficient evidence to establish the precise objectives behind these attacks.

More concerning is that these operations are affecting residential buildings and populated areas, leaving civilians and essential infrastructure under constant threat.

The Bottom Line:

Israel continues to exploit its air superiority and firepower to impose a security reality by force across southern Lebanon.

These developments may also be laying the groundwork for an imminent large-scale ground offensive, particularly if Hezbollah intervenes in the war alongside Iran. However, such an offensive remains a possibility rather than a confirmed military decision.
