Tehran Condemns Israeli Aggression in South Lebanon, Points to US Complicity

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, issued today the 11th of August , 2026 , a sharp condemnation targeting the Zionist regime’s recent series of brutal strikes across southern Lebanon, which have left multiple civilians martyred, injured, and caused widespread destruction to vital infrastructure and residential homes.
Addressing the continued targeting of Lebanese soil, Baqaei highlighted how the ongoing violations of Lebanon’s territorial integrity are sustained by international inaction. He warned that
"the silence and indifference of international bodies, particularly the United Nations Security Council, have emboldened the Zionist regime and enabled the continuation of its aggression and crimes."
Baqaei also placed responsibility directly on Washington for enabling the ongoing escalation across the Middle East. He noted that
"the US administration, due to its all-out support for the occupying regime, is considered an accomplice and partner in all the crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Lebanon, occupied Palestine, and the entire region."
Praising the resilience shown by the Lebanese population and fighters on the front lines, the spokesman
"emphasized the full solidarity of the Islamic Republic of Iran with Lebanon in defending the country’s sovereignty, dignity, and independence."
While Tehran’s diplomatic framing clearly outlines the accountability of both Tel Aviv and Washington, such official statements of solidarity are long overdue. Diplomatic condemnations and legal appeals to international bodies have repeatedly failed to deter Israeli military aggression in the region; ultimately, real deterrence is established by boots on the ground, not press releases.
