The Enemy Threatening the Depth… While beirut’s Southern Suburbs are in the Crosshairs of Intimidation and Threats
The situation along the southern front and toward the Lebanese interior is entering a new phase of intensified pressure. Field developments and statements by Israeli officials indicate that the confrontation has moved beyond the immediate border areas.
1️⃣ the Southern Front: the Battle for the Hills and Pressure by Fire
Ali al-Taher Hill (Nabatieh):
Southern security sources told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the enemy is attempting to impose a new deterrence equation. Israeli strikes and statements suggest that any attempt by Hezbollah to prevent the advance toward the strategic hill will be met with an expansion of targeting deeper into Lebanon.
The objective: To pressure the popular base and the Lebanese state into accepting the evacuation of the hill as a condition for consolidating the ceasefire and expanding the so-called “model zones.”
Field movements and warnings:
🪖 Military movements: Israeli military vehicles have reportedly been observed moving in the Kfar Shuba area and around “Al-Shmeis,” north of the town.
Attacks and targeting: A fire was reported in the town of Baraachit as a result of continued Israeli attacks, alongside airstrikes targeting areas including Ansar and Deir al-Zahrani.
2️⃣ Israeli Political and Military Escalation
Ben-Gvir’s threats: Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir appeared in the Hebrew-language media with a statement clearly reflecting the internal Israeli direction, saying:
“I hope we are very close to an escalation with Lebanon. We cannot simply focus on thwarting threats… We must put an end to this cat-and-mouse game and crush them in Beirut as well.”
Conditions imposed through fire: These statements, alongside reports circulating in the Hebrew-language media, demonstrate an explicit Israeli desire to shift the military focus toward Beirut and place pressure on both residential and political centers.
3️⃣ the Threat to beirut’s Southern Suburbs: between Reality and Psychological Warfare
What about the circulating claim?
The rumor that
“Hezbollah has asked its supporters to prepare to evacuate the southern suburbs”
falls within the framework of psychological and media warfare intended to create confusion and panic.
No official statement has been issued by the resistance calling for a comprehensive evacuation of Beirut’s southern suburbs.
Assessment of the “Depth” Threat
The threat is very serious:
Israeli threats to target Lebanon’s interior and Beirut’s southern suburbs as a means of applying pressure during negotiations over the southern hills are not merely rhetorical statements. They are being reflected on the ground through advance warnings and tactical airstrikes.
The military-political objective:
The enemy is seeking to establish a direct link between any attack on its forces in the southern hills — such as Ali al-Taher and the areas opposite Kfar Shuba — and attacks on Beirut and its southern suburbs.
The aim is to impose, through fire, conditions for the resistance’s withdrawal ahead of the next rounds of negotiations.
