CBS News:

Talks between the Sultanate of Oman and Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz are showing progress.

Diplomatic and Military Context

Omani-Iranian Diplomacy: Omani officials traveled to Tehran for in-person talks aimed at reopening territorial waterways and the strategic strait. Regional sources note that while the direction is positive, reaching a final deal requires more time.

U.S. Military Pause:

The diplomatic push aligned with a temporary pause in U.S. airstrikes by CENTCOM, intentionally held back to avoid disrupting delicate negotiations.

U.S.-Iran Tensions: U.S. Central Command maintains its naval blockade and has redirected or boarded commercial vessels attempting unauthorized transport, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accuses Washington of violating shipping.
