The Mirage of “Model Zones”: Diplomacy or Coercion?

Israeli airstrikes, artillery fire, demolitions, and drone surveillance across Nabatiyeh, Zawtar, Deir Seryan, Arnon, and the Bekaa since yesterday and today coincide with renewed discussions in Washington and Rome over proposed “Model Zones.”

According to Lebanese military sources, the Lebanese Armed Forces have rejected any deployment imposed under external conditions. Critics argue the escalation reflects an effort to pressure Lebanon into accepting security arrangements that Israel failed to impose militarily.

Question: If “Model Zones” are meant to promote stability, why is Israel destroying the very areas proposed for them?
