Briefing On April 2, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered General Randy George, the Army Chief of Staff, to retire immediately.

No official reason was provided.

George is the 24th senior flag officer Hegseth has removed. His replacement: Vice Chief General Christopher LaNeve, Hegseth’s former senior military aide .

This restructuring occurs as the 82nd Airborne deploys and the 31st MEU stages off the USS Tripoli. Simultaneously, US strikes have targeted strategic infrastructure inside Iran, including a major bridge near Karaj .
