“The Time Is Now”: Trump Links Saudi Civil Nuclear Deal to Abraham Accords—Without Uranium...

▪️U.S. President Donald Trump stated that moving forward with a civil nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia is contingent exclusively on the Kingdom joining the Abraham Accords. He emphasized that the proposed nuclear program would not include any uranium enrichment activities.

▪️ Trump added that Saudi Arabia and several other regional states had previously been reluctant to normalize relations because of the Iranian threat. According to him, those concerns are gradually fading as Iran’s regional influence continues to diminish.

▪️ This firm U.S. condition raises significant questions about the viability of any civilian nuclear energy program that lacks the right to enrich the fuel required to operate its reactors. Owning nuclear reactors without the ability to enrich nuclear fuel is comparable to being granted ownership of oil fields while being prohibited from building refineries to produce gasoline and fully utilize those resources.
