The U.S. President informed Congress that the hostilities which began on February 28 under Operation “Epic Fury” have now ended, following a ceasefire ordered on April 7 that “has since been extended,” adding that “there has been no exchange of fire between United States forces and Iran since April 7, 2026.”

In his letter, the President wrote that “the hostilities that began on February 28, 2026 have terminated,” while cautioning that “the threat posed by Iran to the United States and our armed forces remains significant.” He noted that the Department of War “continues to update its forces posture in the AoR in select countries as necessary and appropriate to address Iranian and Iranian proxy forces’ threats.”

The President emphasized that he has acted “consistent with my responsibility to protect Americans and the United States interest at home and abroad,” and that he will “continue to update the Congress in noteworthy changes in the United States armed forces presence, consistent with the War Powers Resolution.”
