Washington

In a phone interview conducted by US President Trump on the morning of the midterm elections on `Fox` `News`, simultaneous with polls opening across the United States, and in a comment on yesterday’s strikes on southern Iran, specifically Qeshm Island, Trump said:

Iran was building an anti-aircraft system, and Washington “watched it being built,” then “hit it last night” when it was completed.

Trump, who appears not to have yet paid the price for his crimes, downplayed describing the confrontation with Iran as a war, saying: “When you talk about war, this isn’t really war,” adding: “Russia-Ukraine is a war. World War II was a war. Iran is not a war.” Insisting on continuing his aggression, he said: “I’m not looking to kill lots of people, but if we have to, we’ll have to.”

Trump claimed that “Iran had a nuclear weapon. They were all set. They would have it within two weeks,” adding that Iran is “very tough. I see why the Middle East was afraid of them. But they’ve been decapitated.”

He said: “We have them totally where we want. We can finish them off, or we can be nice and let thousands of people live.”
