U.S. Disrupts Iraqi Oil Shipment, Extending Naval Blockade Beyond Iran

Analysis: Reuters has reported that a supertanker carrying a shipment of Iraqi crude oil was rerouted by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) while transiting the Gulf region. This incident reflects the spillover effects of the naval blockade linked to Iran onto Iraqi oil movements.

Details: According to the report, the trading arm of Vietnam’s state oil company requested permission for the tanker to resume its voyage to provide vital supplies to the "Nghi Son" refinery.

Tracking: Ship-tracking data showed that the tanker crossed the Strait of Hormuz and sailed into the Sea of Oman before its course was subsequently altered.
