Southern Iran

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces began striking Iranian targets at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time (7:30 p.m. Tehran time), in response to what Washington described as recent attacks against shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. forces.

The strikes were preceded by intensive flights by MQ-4C Triton reconnaissance aircraft along Iran’s coastline, as well as aerial-refueling activity originating from Tel Aviv, Qatar and the UAE.

At the same time, reports indicated that the sound of at least six new explosions was heard in the areas of Chabahar and Konarak in southern Iran.
