According to reports attributed to The New York Times, the Pentagon has presented President Donald Trump with five plans for major military operations against Iran and Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, while Trump reportedly remains hesitant about resuming the war.
Key military scenarios under consideration:
▪️ An intensive 72-hour air campaign against Iran, targeting missile and drone systems, IRGC command centers, military installations, and energy infrastructure.
▪️ Expanded military operations against Ansarullah in Yemen, amid escalating hostilities with Saudi Arabia and disruptions to regional aviation.
Meanwhile, U.S. diplomatic missions have warned American citizens about possible escalation, airspace closures, and flight cancellations.
Militarily, Washington’s biggest challenge is not how to launch the strikes, but how to end the confrontation.
The IRGC retains several potential retaliatory options, including missiles, drones, and pressure on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, while Ansarullah could increase pressure on maritime traffic in the Red Sea.
A new war could rapidly escalate from a limited American military campaign into a regional war of attrition, threatening energy supplies, international shipping, and U.S. military bases.
Military planning does not necessarily mean a decision to go to war has been made. However, the region faces a dangerous escalation in which the Iranian and Yemeni fronts are increasingly interconnected.
