Will Hezbollah Remain Neutral if Iran Faces Another US–Israeli Attack? Report Reveals Iranian Messages and International Pressure on Lebanon!

October 22, 2026 | Beirut – Tehran

In a report published on October 21, the newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat revealed intensive political and diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing Hezbollah from becoming involved in a potential military confrontation between Iran, the United States, and Israel.

But the fundamental question remains: Can Hezbollah genuinely remain neutral if Iran, its strategic ally, comes under a large-scale US–Israeli attack?

First | Iran’s Message: We Do Not Need Your Intervention

According to Asharq Al-Awsat, lawmakers from Lebanon’s Shiite political alliance quoted Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh as saying during his visit to Beirut:

“You are not required to intervene to assist us.”

According to the same account, Khatibzadeh emphasized Iran’s ability to defend its territory, warned of a renewed confrontation with Washington, and stressed that Tehran would not accept a ceasefire agreement that excluded Lebanon.

He also delivered a clear message regarding Iran’s military readiness:

“For our part, we are keeping our fingers on the trigger to respond if we are targeted.”

If accurately reported, this position suggests that Tehran is not requesting the opening of a new Lebanese front. However, it does not necessarily mean the end of strategic coordination with the Lebanese resistance.

Second | American, French, and Qatari Pressure to Keep Lebanon Out of the War

Asharq Al-Awsat reported that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Lebanese President Joseph Aoun against Hezbollah’s involvement in another war.

Similar messages were reportedly conveyed by Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.

These parties fear that Israel could exploit any intervention by Hezbollah to expand its military operations toward Beirut, the southern suburbs, and Rafic Hariri International Airport.

Third | What Is Hezbollah’s Position?

The newspaper quoted a source familiar with the Lebanese–Israeli negotiations as saying that Hezbollah:

“Has no intention of becoming involved in the confrontation.”

The source also reported an undisclosed meeting between the Qatari prime minister and Mohammad Raad, head of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc.

According to the source, Raad indicated that Hezbollah:

“Is not in a mood for escalation.”

However, these assessments do not constitute an official declaration by Hezbollah’s leadership that it would remain neutral under all circumstances.

Fourth | Israel Continues Its Threats While Lebanon Is Asked to Exercise Restraint

Meanwhile, the report highlighted Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz’s threat to expand Israel’s so-called security zone to include areas north of the Litani River and the Nabatieh region.

This exposes a striking contradiction: Washington demands that Hezbollah refrain from intervening, while Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory continue and threats of expanding the occupation remain on the table.
