Zolqadr to Remain as Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council as Pezeshkian Rejects...

Tehran

Official sources and media outlets close to the reformist camp have denied reports circulating about the appointment of former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Mohsen Rezaei as Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), while simultaneously confirming earlier reports that the current Secretary, Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr, had submitted his resignation.

In this context, the reformist newspaper Sazandegi reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian categorically rejected the resignation and asked Zolqadr to continue carrying out his duties with full strength and authority.

The clarification puts an end to the ongoing speculation, confirming that Zolqadr will remain in his position and that there are currently no administrative changes planned within the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council.

Zolqadr’s strategic mistake was that, instead of implementing the Supreme Leadership’s directives and the fundamental guidelines it had established during Council meetings, he pursued a different course outside the agenda entrusted to him.

May Almighty God protect everyone, and protect all the officials and fighters of Islam.

The appointment of Major General Rezaei to this position—provided that it is based on clear plans and programs and a collective approach—will, God willing, have a positive impact, provided that it avoids administrative stagnation and tribal partisanship.
